Mihajla Beach is a charming beach located on the secret island of Lastovo, Croatia. We liked it for its easy access and turquoise waters. Close to the town center, it is dominated by a ruined house that runs along the shore, adding a singular character to the place. We were seduced by its family atmosphere and the tranquility offered by a boat-free horizon, perfect for those looking for a place to swim in Lastovo.

In this article, we share all our useful tips for making the most of Mihalja Beach in Lastovo.

This opinion is completely independent, based on our experiences. We made our own choices, visited the area anonymously, and paid our bills in full.

Is Mihajla Beach worth it?

Yes, Mihajla beach is definitely worth a visit for its quiet, family-friendly setting. Even though the beach’s surroundings are made of concrete, which may not be very comfortable, it stands out for its turquoise water and clear, boat-free horizon. We particularly appreciated the local atmosphere and spent a long time watching children jumping from a diving board into the clear, deep waters.
The site is also lively thanks to the presence of a café and a volleyball court, perfect for alternating relaxation and activity.

Sand or no sand?

Mihajla beach has only two small lounging areas. These are mainly made up of large, light-beige pebbles and are surrounded by rocks. Otherwise, access to the bathing area is via a ladder. However, most children jump into the water from a promontory, as the water is both deep and clear.

Swimming conditions and supervision

Swimming conditions at Mihajla are excellent, with very clear, calm and clean water. The absence of currents makes it ideal for swimming and diving. However, the beach is unsupervised and has no first-aid post, so you should remain vigilant, especially with children.
Be careful and bring swimming shoes, as many sea urchins hide on the walls of the swimming wall.

Installations

We found that Mihajla beach offers simple but sufficient comforts.
There’s a volleyball court and a small, shady restaurant offering snacks and drinks, ideal for a gourmet break. On the other hand, there’s no wifi, changing rooms or public toilets, and the area of natural shade is very limited.
Also note that the beach is quite exposed to the wind.

Where is Mihajla Beach

Mihajla Beach is located about 1km from Lastovo town center, in Croatia. It lies at the entrance to the jetty, close to an old olive oil mill, now in ruins.

Access by car and parking

Access by car is via a narrow, winding road, paved for most of the way, which should be used with caution. From Lastovo town center, it’s about a 4-minute drive to the seafront parking lot. The parking lot has limited spaces, but is accessible to larger vehicles.

Access from the parking lot

From the parking lot, access to the beach is a matter of seconds on a mostly level path.

Public transport access

There is no information about public transport directly serving Plage Mihajla. We therefore recommend that you use your car or bicycle instead. Please note, however, that the road to this beach is winding and quite steep.

Dog

We haven’t seen any information about dog access to Mihajla beach. In the absence of clear signage, it is advisable to enquire locally before bringing your pet.

Reduced mobility access

Mihajla beach is not accessible to people with reduced mobility. Access from the parking lot is via a mainly flat road, but the presence of large pebbles and the absence of special facilities limit its practicability.

With children

Mihajla beach is ideal for families with children, thanks to its calm, crystal-clear waters. Children can have fun exploring the rocks and enjoying the volleyball court. However, the lack of supervision means parents need to be extra vigilant.

Naturism

Naturism is not possible on Mihajla beach. This family beach, frequented by locals, does not offer a dedicated area for naturism.

Eating out

A small, shady restaurant at the entrance to the pier serves snacks and drinks throughout the day. The “Mihajla” café is ideal for a coffee break or an ice cream.
This simple offering complements the on-site experience.
