Ovčice Beach is a small beach combining concrete and pebbles, located to the east of Split city center. It offers an unobstructed view of theIsland of Brač, and runs along the coastal promenade that links several beaches together. There are a few shady areas thanks to the tall trees, and the water is clear, which makes for a certain comfort on hot days. We enjoyed the peacefulness of the place in the early morning.
In this article, we share our tips and a few photos to help you know what to expect before enjoying a moment at the water’s edge.

This opinion is completely independent, based on our experiences. We made our own choices, visited the area anonymously, and paid our bills in full.
Is Ovčice Beach worth it?
Yes, Ovčice Beach may be worth a short stop on a stroll along the seafront promenade. It offers a beautiful view of the Island of Brač, even if it’s not ideal for sunbathing or settling down comfortably, its ground being largely concreted or covered with pebbles. We nevertheless appreciated its rather calm atmosphere in the early morning, as well as its pleasant little beach bar. The area also benefits from natural shade under the trees. Despite some tagging and the occasional presence of seaweed, the beach remains generally clean and pleasant for a quick break.

Type of beach
Sand or no sand?
Ovčice Beach is not a sandy beach. It’s mainly made up of concrete, pebbles and rocks, which can make it a little less comfortable for sunbathing or putting down your towel. This beach is more suitable for a short break, a stroll or a quick swim.

Swimming conditions and supervision
Bathing at Ovčice remains decent, with a gentle slope facilitating gradual entry into the Claire water. However, the ground is made up of rocks and pebbles, so it’s advisable to wear suitable footwear for walking and swimming. There are generally few waves, which makes for a rather tranquil swim. We didn’t see any signs indicating that the beach is supervised, but our research suggests that it is in high season.

Installations
We noted the presence of showers to freshen up after swimming and cabins for changing discreetly. A beach bar offers a pleasant setting overlooking the Isle of Brač, and benches are available.

Access to Ovčice Beach in Split
Where’s the beach?
Ovčice Beach is located east of Split city center. For reference, it is located:
- 18min walk from Diocletian’s Palace
- In the Bačvice district
- Between Plaža Bačvice and Plaža Firule

Access by car and parking
The beach is easily accessible by car, either via Route Put Firula if you’re coming from the east of Split, or via Route Šetalište Petra Preradović from the city center. A large parking lot overlooks the beach at the Maestro Grill Club Split restaurant, but it fills up quickly, especially in high season. It is therefore advisable to arrive early to be sure of finding a space.

Access from the parking lot
From the parking lot, the beach can be reached either by a concrete ramp or by a set of steps of the same type. The ground is still fairly uneven, however, so a little caution is called for on the way down.

Public transport access
The beach is accessible by bus via line 21, stop “KINO BAČVICE”. For timetables and more information, please visit the official website here.

Special features
Dog
We didn’t see any information about dog access to Ovčice Beach.
Reduced mobility access
Wheelchair access to the beach is possible via the concrete promenade from Plaža Bačvice, as the ground is generally even. However, there are no special facilities on site for people with reduced mobility, with the exception of a few benches.

With children
During our low-season visit, the beach had no special facilities for children. On the other hand, the gentle slope allows gradual entry into the Claire water, making swimming easier for the little ones, but you are advised to wear swimming shoes and keep a close eye on your children. We also noted the presence of natural shade under the trees, useful for resting between two swims and protecting yourself from the sun.

Naturism
Naturism is not permitted on the beach.
Eating out
There’s also a beach bar-snack bar where you can cool off while enjoying the view of Brač Island. For a more substantial meal, the Soul Kitchen Restaurant, just an 8min walk away, is an excellent address in Split, renowned for its local dishes and inventive cuisine.

Hotels
Close to the beach, we recommendHotel Park Split and Briig Boutique Hotel, both just a 5-minute walk away. The former is a luxury establishment with a winter garden, swimming pool and outdoor Jacuzzi with sea view, while the latter stands out for its bold architecture and rooftop.
