Why eat at Restaurant Konoba Marjan in Split?
Is the Konoba Marjan Restaurant worth it? Our review
Completely! We’ve included it in our selection of the best restaurants in Split for three main reasons:
- The historic setting: in the house where Emanuel Vidović was born, you’ll be immersed in an authentic atmosphere steeped in history. You’ll be charmed by this traditional building with its thick stone walls!

- A refined local cuisine where the sea invites itself to the table: fresh products are in the spotlight, with the day’s catch in particular, prepared with precision and subtlety. We enjoyed an excellent cod steak, chosen on the expert advice of the waiter who presented us with the day’s fish directly at the table.

- Welcome and service: the team offers a warm welcome and precise advice on food and wine. You’ll enjoy responsive, attentive service to make your meal even more enjoyable.
What you will eat
The menu offers a wide variety of seafood dishes, with a bistronomic touch. Start with well-balanced starters like the swordfish tartare with onion gel and lemon sauce, a perfect appetizer.
For the main course, you can choose from the catch of the day, presented on a platter for you to select your fish. We enjoyed a cod steak with crisp vegetables, masterfully cooked and seasoned just right.

Lightly toasted bread with olive oil and cheese from the Isle of Pag complete the experience. Finally, don’t miss the dessert of the day, for us the pistachio cheesecake, delicate and perfectly dosed in sugar.
You’ll discover generous, refined local cuisine that respects natural flavors. We particularly appreciated the quality of the produce and the meticulous presentation of the dishes.

What you will drink
The drinks menu features Croatian wines, true local treasures still little known outside the country. We particularly recommend the white wine Pošip Rizman, with its Claire color and fruity notes, both dry and perfectly balanced. It’s a great opportunity to discover an emblematic Dalmatian grape variety that goes perfectly with the restaurant’s fish and seafood dishes.

For variety, there’s also a selection of classic non-alcoholic drinks, such as sodas and fruit juices (orange and apple), as well as a menu of timeless cocktails. Whether you’re a fan of Aperol Spritz, Negroni or Mojito, you can accompany your meal with a refreshing drink that extends the convivial atmosphere of the place.
