Lido beach, renowned for its breathtaking views of the Adriatic Sea, nestles along the famous Lungomare pedestrian promenade, bordered by the Parc Angiolina and historic Austro-Hungarian-style hotels. We were seduced by its lively city atmosphere and the quality of its crystal-clear waters, perfect for swimming.
Here are our useful tips for planning your visit to Lido Beach in Opatija.

This opinion is completely independent, based on our experiences. We made our own choices, visited the area anonymously, and paid our bills in full.
Is Lido Beach worth it?
Yes, Opatija’s Lido beach is well worth a visit. Located in an elegant setting, close to the Angiolina Park, it combines rocky areas and concrete platforms, like many Croatian beaches. The water quality is excellent, and we’ve learned that the beach has been awarded the Blue Flag label, a guarantee of a clean, well-maintained environment. From the beach, you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the city and the Adriatic coastline.
In short, whether you want to swim, sunbathe or enjoy a drink with friends, Lido Beach offers a fine balance between relaxation and entertainment. It’s one of Opatija’s best beaches.

Type of beach
Sand or no sand?
Opatija’s Lido beach is mainly rocky, with no sand. But that doesn’t make it unpleasant. The flat rocks and concreted sections are handy for lying on, and you’ll find ladders for descending into the water.

Swimming conditions and supervision
Swimming conditions were excellent during our visit. The water is crystal-clear, very clean and generally calm, with very few waves. The beach is not supervised.

Installations
The beach is comfortable thanks to the possibility of renting deckchairs and umbrellas, but also thanks to the presence of showers and the proximity of a bar-restaurant where you can refresh and satiate yourself all day long. Toilets are available in nearby restaurants.

Access by car and parking
It’s possible to get to the beach by car, but parking in the area can be very tricky, especially in high season, and nearby parking lots are quite expensive.
We recommend that you park on the outskirts of town (for example, at the parking lot at Put uz Dol, 51410, Opatija) and then take a cab or public transport. If you like walking, the Lungomare Promenade, which leads down to the beach, is very pleasant and offers incredible scenery!

Public transport access
If you take public transport, the nearest stop is “Opatija 2 tržnica”, served by bus lines 32, 34 and 37 of the city’s transport network. It’s less than a 10-minute walk away.

OUR ADVICE FOR RENTING YOUR CAR AT Croatia
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- Choose a car that is powerful enough (the roads are steep) but compact (some passages are narrow).
- There is a lot of demand, book it early.

Special features
Dog
We didn’t see any information about dog access to the Lido beach.
Reduced mobility access
The beach floor is flat and smooth, and there is also a boardwalk made of wooden slabs, making it wheelchair accessible. People with reduced mobility will be able to enjoy the beach and the scenery, but there are no facilities to facilitate access to the water.

With children
The Lido beach is not particularly suitable for families with young children. The ground is rocky, with no sand or play areas, which can be dangerous for the little ones. Swimming is still possible, but access is via steep ladders, requiring extra vigilance. We therefore recommend keeping a close eye on children, and choosing other beaches such as Plaža Slatina or Plaža Ičići if you’re looking for a safer place for them.

Naturism
Naturism is not permitted on the Lido beach.

Eating out
The Lido beach is lined with a restaurant-bar, offering a variety of options for dining and refreshment.
