If you only have a limited amount of time in the city: visit the basilica, climb its bell tower, and stroll through the narrow streets. This will give you a good overview of the city. <\/p>\n\n

1. Euphrasian Basilica<\/h2>\n\n

Why visit?<\/h3>\n\n

First, head to Pore\u010d\u2019s most precious episcopal complex: the Euphrasian Basilica<\/strong>. We were impressed by its 6th-century Byzantine mosaics, still visible in the apse and considered among the best-preserved in the Mediterranean. Built under Bishop Euphrasius on the site of a former 4th-century oratory, the complex includes the basilica, an atrium, an octagonal baptistery, a bell tower, and the bishop\u2019s palace. <\/p>\n\n

In addition to the mosaics, we loved exploring the rest of the building, such as the cloister with its tall arches, and climbing the bell tower to enjoy an unobstructed view of the old city and the sea. The building has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. <\/p>\n\n
