In the heart of the park, you’ll find Villa Angiolina, a historic 19th-century mansion now used as a museum, which we recommend you visit! We particularly appreciated the park’s proximity to the magnificent Promenade Lungomare and Lido Beach. If you’re looking for a place where you can combine a stroll with discovering Opatija’s heritage and history, Parc Angiolina is a must. <\/p>\n\n

Why is Parc Angiolina famous?<\/h3>\n\n

We learned that Angiolina Park owes its reputation to the role it played in Opatija’s birth as a seaside resort. When Villa Angiolina was built in the mid-19\u1d49 century, the estate quickly became a resort for members of Austro-Hungarian high society. The gardens were subsequently enriched with plants imported from all over the world, which at the time was a very avant-garde space for a small coastal town. This historical dimension remains visible today: the park retains the organization typical of pleasure gardens of the period, with wide paths, elaborate beds and a mix of local and exotic vegetation. <\/p>\n\n
