Why eat at the Taj Mahal Old Town Restaurant in Dubrovnik?
Is the Taj Mahal Old Town Restaurant worth it? Our review
Without a doubt! We’ve included it in our selection of the best restaurants in Dubrovnik for the culinary experience it offers and its warm atmosphere!
Chef Edin Macanović offers authentic traditional Bosnian cuisine, full of flavor and soul. Last but not least, the family atmosphere and decor, blending Bosnian architecture with modern comforts, will make you feel at home, only better!

What you will eat
The à la carte menu offers a wide variety of dishes, focusing on traditional Croatian and Bosnian cuisine. You’ll start with comforting soups or refreshing salads before moving on to tasty grilled meats. Several vegetarian and even halal options are available, so you can choose according to your preferences. In any case, the portions are generous and the flavors pronounced, a real pleasure for the palate.

What we ate: cevapi, small minced meat sausages, moist and fragrant, served with exceptional homemade bread. All accompanied by traditional sauces such as ajvar, a condiment made from eggplant and peppers, or cream cheese. A real delight!

What you will drink
The restaurant boasts a fine wine list, with a sharp local selection, adapted to traditional Dubrovnik cuisine. The waiters offer very detailed explanations of the drinks, their origins and possible pairings.
For our part, we didn’t drink at lunch, but we did have a black coffee, served with a typical Croatian chocolate and walnut sweet.

The atmosphere of the restaurant
The interior is carefully decorated, with old stone walls, exposed beams and antique carpets reminiscent of traditional Bosnian architecture. The two indoor rooms are colorful and air-conditioned, while the outdoor terrace offers a pleasant setting for evening dining.
The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, with moderate Sevdah music that accompanies conversation without getting in the way. We also appreciated the warm, responsive service, with a simple, genuine welcome that creates a real sense of closeness.
