Is Kolovare Beach Zadar worth it?
Yes! We loved its calm setting and crystal-clear waters, ideal for swimming and relaxing. This urban beach features a grove of pine trees providing welcome natural shade. There’s everything you need for a pleasant day: showers, toilets, deckchair hire, children’s play areas, food stalls… We particularly appreciated the family atmosphere.
This is one of Zadar’s best beaches!

Type of beach
Sand or no sand?
Like many Croatian beaches, Kolovaré is not a large expanse of fine sand. Close to the water, you’ll find a stretch of small gravels, a few concrete modules that line the beach and create practical flat surfaces for sitting on, and further back, a pleasant wooded park.

Swimming conditions and supervision
- The waters of the Adriatic are very clear and clean.
- The beach has a gentle, gradual slope into the water.
- It is supervised in high season.

Installations
Plaža Kolovaré boasts facilities ideal for a day at the beach:
- There are showers and wheelchair-accessible public toilets,
- Spaces to change easily and discreetly,
- Parasols and deckchairs are available for hire,
- We saw restaurants.

Access to Kolovaré Beach in Zadar
Where is Plaža Kolovaré?
- In the town of Zadar,
- precisely in Rue Kolovaré (Croatian: Kolovare ul.),
- It’s about 20 minutes on foot and 5 minutes by car from the historic center.

Access by car and parking
Access by car from the center of Zadar is easy, via a wide, paved road. You’ll find parking spaces along the street bordering the beach, or in the adjacent streets. Please note that space is limited, so in high season we recommend arriving early.

Access from the parking lot
From the street, access to the beach is on an even, concrete surface. You can reach the beach by stairs, a grass path or a slope suitable for people with reduced mobility and baby carriages. This simple, well-laid-out route makes it easy to get to the beach.

Public transport access
If you’re taking public transport, the nearest stops are “Bolnica (B)” and “Arbanasi 1 (B)”, served by the city’s No. 2 bus line. They are less than 5 minutes’ walk away.

Special features
Dog
We didn’t think the beach was dog-friendly. However, you should know that there are many dog-friendly beaches in Croatia! To find out more, click here.

Reduced mobility access
Plaža Kolovaré is accessible to people with reduced mobility. It has adapted toilets and access is via a concrete surface with a gentle slope, making it easy to move around in a wheelchair. Several reserved parking spaces are also available nearby. However, there are no specific facilities, such as an adapted wheelchair for use in the water, for example.

With children
We found this beach particularly suitable for families. The gentle slope and calm waters provide a safe setting for children’s swimming. A playground with trampoline, slide and inflatable water activities is on site, complemented by a grove of pine trees that provide welcome natural shade.

Naturism
Naturism is not permitted.

Eating out
You can eat on site, in the small snack bar set up by the water (closed during our out-of-season visit).

Hotels
Several accommodations are located in the immediate vicinity of Kolovaré beach in Zadar. This central location provides easy access to the beach and surrounding amenities. So you can take full advantage of one of Zadar’s best beaches, while enjoying optimum comfort for your stay.
