Located just a few minutes’ walk from Zadar’s old town, Golden Wave Beach (Plaža Zlatni Val) is a mixture of a tree-lined public park and an urban beach, ideal for a swim break between 2 visits. With its typical concrete platforms and crystal-clear water, it offers a convenient and authentic spot to enjoy the sea without leaving the center.
Here are our useful tips for planning your visit to the Golden Wave beach in Zadar.

This opinion is completely independent, based on our experiences. We made our own choices, visited the area anonymously, and paid our bills in full.
Is Plaža Zlatni Val worth it?
Yes, Zlatni Val Beach (Plaža in Croatian), also known as Golden Wave Beach, is a beautiful beach well worth a visit.
It’s perfect if you’re looking for a quiet spot to swim in Zadar, without the hustle and bustle of the more central beaches. Most of the shoreline is made up of concrete areas, with easy access to the water via ladders. The water is generally very Claire, and the absence of sand makes it ideal for a quick swim. The atmosphere is rather local, with fewer tourists than at Plaža Kolovaré or Plaža Uskok. If you’re looking for a simple, convenient and peaceful place to enjoy the sea, this beach is a good choice. We really liked the wooded park where you can lie on the grass, in the shade of the trees, close to the water.
This is one of Zadar’s best beaches!

Beach type: sandy, supervised…
Sand or no sand?
You won’t find any sand. The waterfront is a large concrete avenue, with a pleasant wooded park behind.

Swimming conditions and supervision
Access to the water is via ladders, so be careful if you’re with the family.
However, we couldn’t find any verified information on beach surveillance.
